Speaking of cheap bastards...
My Steering in the CJ has been crap for a while. I taco'ed the drag link a while back, so straightened it and sleeved it. Then, the TRE on it got a bit sloppy, and is kind of hard to find, and is 2 feet long. I don't know why there's not a center piece and 2 TRE's, but it's not. Its a small sleeve to adjust at one end and then a 2 ft long end n the passenger side. Anyway, a couple days I helped a friend put a Currie Currectlync on his '06 Rubi, and he left the stock steering for scrap. I tool the steering half (kinda decent beefy) of his stock inverted "Y" and chopped 7 inches out of the middle. I ground the ends to a point and butt-welded the pieces while clamped straight in a angle iron. Then, when ground smooth, I "sleeved" with two halves if a piece of 1" ID pipe I had split. Altogether, about 1" at the butt-weld and then about 1.4" after the sleeve. Not likely to bend that on my weak power steering pump and non-assisted. All for the price of about $1 of grinding disk. I even used my neighbor's welder... lol... his welder and gas. Haha. Cheap bastard. Pics tomorrow. (and yeah, I know, I gotta paypal you, Kenn... not trying to be cheap there.)
